Saganti.
I had my acoustic guitar out for something & didn’t want to waste the opportunity so I recorded this. It’s all lo-fi & hissy because it was recorded through a webcam’s microphone; just imagine it’s a cassette. Also, the ending is totally incongruous. Oh, & I just made up the title but it turns out it’s a Hindi name. Works for me.
I’ve been following tani P’s blog Spaghetti Tree for a while now and really enjoy his ukulele and melodica compositions, so when he had finished posting the Harmonic Session pieces and asked the question “Who wants to do a remix?” I very quickly said that I did.
This then is the track which I built around the wonderfully evocative Harmonic Sessions:
“amnesia” by awaycaboose and tani P:
Yes! I’m crazy excited about this. Collaboration is awesome & super easy nowadays thanks to all sorts of wonderful technology—I’m in NYC, awaycaboose is in Scotland, & all this took was a couple of emails (well, aside from the instruments, software, know-how, etc. But you know what I mean)! Hopefully it’s just the beginning. Enjoy!
West Africa Tribute.
Careful readers of this blog will have noticed that I have a slight obsession with West Africa, particularly the music from there. The above recording is my attempt at/approximation of the W. African guitar sound (accompanied by some random bells & rattles I have), and was inspired by Khaira Arby’s amazing Tiny Desk Concert at NPR that I watched this morning. Enjoy.
Harmonic Session: Three & Four.
Thus concludes the Harmonic Session posts. Here’s ‘em all on one page for convenience sake. Who wants to do a remix?
